Our extra-curricular highlights
Verona Cast!
Welcome to The Verona Cast — our student-led podcast proudly created and hosted by students in Class Orchid at Verona School.
The Verona Cast gives students the opportunity to share their voices, ideas, experiences, and creativity through engaging podcast episodes made for our school community. From school events and student interests to interviews, discussions, and fun conversations, each episode is planned and produced by our students, helping build confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and creativity.
We invite you to take a listen and celebrate the amazing work of our young podcasters as they bring their ideas to life through The Verona Cast!
Student Leadership Council
At Verona, our Student Leadership Council (SLC) gives students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and play an active role in school life.
The SLC meets regularly to be the voice of the student body. Council members share ideas, raise concerns, and help make decisions that improve our school. They also take part in planning and running school-based activities and events, building confidence and teamwork along the way.
To strengthen their leadership, SLC students attend parliament excursions, where they learn about how government works, decision-making processes, and the importance of civic responsibility. These experiences help them see how their role as leaders at school connects to the wider community.
Being part of the SLC teaches students to:
- listen to and represent their peers
- take initiative and organise activities
- work together respectfully and responsibly
- grow as confident leaders for the future.
Our SLC reminds us that every student’s voice matters, and that leadership is about making positive change for the whole school community.
Creative Arts
Every Thursday, our students take part in art classes designed to help them explore, learn, and grow their creative skills.
Art is an important part of our curriculum because it encourages students to express themselves, build confidence, and develop new ways of seeing the world. In these sessions, students experiment with different materials, techniques, and styles — from painting and drawing to sculpture and mixed media.
Our art program is not just about making beautiful pieces, but about helping students:
- express their ideas and emotions
- improve focus and fine motor skills
- develop problem-solving and creative thinking
- build pride in their achievements.
Each week, the classroom transforms into a creative space where students are encouraged to try new things, share their work, and celebrate their individuality. Art at Verona is all about discovery, growth, and joy.
Trips and excursions
At Verona, we believe learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. Our excursions give students the chance to explore new environments, build real-world skills, and create lasting memories.
We offer two types of excursions throughout the year:
- Education-based excursions – These connect directly to what students are learning in class. They give students hands-on experiences that make lessons more engaging and meaningful. From museums and cultural sites to environmental programs and community visits, these trips bring learning to life.
- Reward excursions – These celebrate and encourage positive behaviour, attendance, and effort at school. Students who show responsibility, respect, and kindness have the opportunity to take part in fun outings that recognise their commitment to learning and our school values.
Excursions help students:
- experience learning in new settings
- practise social and independence skills
- strengthen friendships and teamwork
- feel motivated and proud of their efforts.
At Verona, trips and excursions are an important part of how we support student growth, both academically and personally.
